From your friends in the North Monroe Business District, we wish you a very happy (and stress-free) holiday season! May your season be merry and bright, and may you have time to stop, ponder and appreciate the most important things in your life!
We've been loving the entries that have been rolling in for our first ever Summer Selfie Spectacular, and are getting pretty excited to share a sneak peek at the grand prize. 11 Days left before the contest concludes and a winner is announced! Be sure to mark your calendar to attend the September 1st Farmers' Market, to see the grand prize basket and the winner being determined - could be you!
Thanks to everyone that participated in last week's E-G Farmers' Market Takeover Event! It was a lot of fun to meet more Emerson-Garfield neighbors, interact with local market vendors, and see the impact of this weekly grassroots event on our community. It was uplifting and the energy contagious. We can hardly wait for next Friday... Through September 29th, every Friday from 3:00-7:00! Check it out, and see you around the corridor!
Visit North Monroe businesses as often as you like throughout the summer and take a selfie with a "Greetings From North Monroe" postcard or designated #KNOWMONROE sign (available at the Farmers' Market and participating businesses)! Tag #KnowMonroe and the business you've visited when posting to your Instagram account, and you’re entered! (Please note, if your profile is private your entry may not be visible or counted!)
This event welcomed 493 volunteers for a total of 2008.5 volunteer hours. $19,205.04 was donated in supplies and other items to complete the projects, and the donation bins at local businesses throughout April brought in 1,698 food, hygiene, cleaning, pet food, medicine, and clothing items! So inspiring, thank you again to everyone! Make sure to visit Monroe, and see for yourself the improvements to business exteriors, landscaping, and even public art!
The City of Spokane has officially and definitively announced that they will be moving forward with the North Monroe project. It is our sincere hope that with this decisive statement, our members can move forward in their own individual planning and strategizing more confidently, as well as continue to invest in the collaborations that will make our district as a whole less vulnerable and better prepared to weather construction this time next year.
Everyone wins when people give, but we're throwing in a little extra incentive... Post a selfie on Instagram or our Facebook Page when dropping off a donation at one of our participating North Monroe businesses for a chance to win a $50 gift card to Kingsley & Scout! Follow us, use #knowmonroe and #spokanegives, and be sure to show the item you are donating and tag your location!
April started off with a bang, as we welcomed our newest thrift store to the corridor, Hydrangea, at their grand opening on April 1st! As we look ahead to a new weekend, we have two fun events this Saturday and plenty of reasons to come and explore North Monroe! (Including stopping by to say hi to Janet at Hydrangea, to congratulate her on her first week in business!)
This weekend is full of reasons to come visit North Monroe, and we are excited to highlight two events that are definitely worth your support (plus, they are bound to be a great time)! During your explorations on the corridor, you'll DEFINITELY want to snap a picture and enter our Instagram contest, too! You could win two gift cards to Vessel, simply by following Know Monroe, posting a pic from the corridor, and tagging a friend you'd like to share coffee with! Win-win!
There's still snow on the ground, but the Emerson-Garfield Farmers' Market is already busy preparing for the 2017 season...
"Small business owners are often hard working people that must focus on what they do to keep the doors open month to month. When they choose to make a statement together, everyone notices and it sets a positive tone for the entire community," says Mariah McKay....
Come show your support - whether you can donate blood or not - from 10:30-3:30 on March 4th at Kingsley & Scout, 2810 N Monroe.
The North Monroe Business District is excited to partner with the City of Spokane’s Office of Neighborhood Services (ONS) for an event called Cleaning From The Corridor (CFTC) – scheduled for late April. Last year, East Sprague was chosen as the focus area of this one-day event.
This Saturday, February 11th, come join the staff and curators of Boulevard Mercantile as we help them celebrate two years in business at 1905 North Monroe in Spokane!
All of North Monroe Business District's growth and goals are based on collaboration and looking out for one another, promoting unique treasures and interests in our corridor for the success of all of our businesses. So, in addition for the delicious caffeine boost we volunteers needed to push through our lengthy to-dos, it was nice to look around and see another example of a North Monroe business already investing in those connections and taking action to build a stronger community. In this case, with a clothing drive!
The City of Spokane is seeking input from citizens on the design and elements of the North Monroe Corridor project to improve and "right-size" North Monroe St from Indiana to Cora, planned for construction in 2018. A public open house regarding the project is scheduled on Thursday, Jan. 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church, 806 W. Knox.
There is only so much space from storefront to storefront, and according to our City's Comprehensive Plan, Monroe comes up 25 feet shy of the necessary space to accommodate five laves of traffic.
Following a call for applications, members were appointed to serve for the duration of the project committee, which turned out to be from July through December of 2016.
